SISTER MARGUERITE, A VOCATION WHERE LIGHT TRIUMPHS OVER DARKNESS !
Sr. Jacqueline Portefaix,
Daughter of Wisdom
The new edition of the book by Louis Arnould “Âme en prison” under the title “La vraie vie de Marie Heurtin” is part of the sequel of the film by Jean Pierre Améris on the life of Marie Heurtin, born deaf, dumb and blind. As a child, Marie was received at the Larnay Institute in France and benefited from the unconditional love of Sr. Marguerite, Daughter of Wisdom. With tenderness, love and intuition, she succeeded in bringing the child out of the deep night towards the light by the lone language of the hands.
Was this not already a response to the call of Pope Francis to consecrated people? He said they “are called to bring to everyone the embrace of God who bends with a mother’s tenderness over us.”(Rejoice! A letter to Consecrated Men and Women). This quote is also present in the introduction to the book written by Mgr. Garner. Speaking of the Daughters of Wisdom, he added
“they do it without drums nor trumpets!”
