Welcoming others, different
The ritual prepared by the Daughters of Wisdom of the Region of the Philippines gave the delegates of the Council of Congregation the opportunity to become integrated right away to the multicultural face of the Congregation. The active participation of the English speaking novices and the pre-novices highlighted this context. What contributed to arouse our awareness were the two children who welcomed us following the Filipino custom of placing their hands on our forehead.
The purpose of our meeting was given…welcome and respect of others…who are different.
The prayer oriented toward the east, the west, the south and the north united us all, Daughters of Wisdom in the world, as “women from the nations of the world who give birth to a new world”.
Finally, Sr. Louise Madore, Superior General, asked us:
“Daughters of Wisdom, delegates to the Council of Congregation, what are you willing to invest in this important event that brings us together?”
Deep in our hearts we were challenged. In our commitment, we asked the Lord to “make us humble at heart, meek and non-violent, artisans of forgiveness and peace.”
Conscious of our responsibility, we turned to Mary and to the pioneers of our history and we prayed: “Mary, throne of Wisdom, Montfort and Marie Louise come journey with us!”
