Gathering in one single project for vocational awakening many cultures, different languages, several young people from two continents, is it a dream? It’s precisely what occurred in last May 2007.
At Sister Lise Le Riche and Sister Violaine Gagnon request, Peruvian communities of the Daughters of Wisdom received a group of 7 girls from a Canadian university, aged from 19 to 26. Their goal : deepening their relationship with Jesus and thinking about their specific call. This goal has been achieved by the life in community, the prayer, the commitment. The Peruvian Daughters of Wisdom in Lima and its suburbs received us with very warm welcome. We lived in Nana, where the Sisters own a big public college of 1100 girls.
During our stay, we built a narrow relationship with the sisters and particularly with the Peruvian beginners and/or candidates. Sister Vicky, vocational animator and Sister Juanita, responsible for the beginners opened the doors for our collaboration in “pueblo joven” of La Era de Nana where 3 Daughters of Wisdom and 6 beginners are living.
The 4 nurse students have been invited to visit sick people together with the beginners and they started building a deep and warm relationship praying around the patients, exchanging with their families, and giving the communion.
Our group also attended a vocational animation day in La Era. About 10 Peruvian girls and beginners joined this session and the Canadian group reported that this meeting had a real impact on them. Marie-Louise’s life, narrated by Sister Lenina invited them to think about the folly of Wisdom through God’s love and how they could apply it to their own life.
Another important point has been the obvious joy of 2 young Peruvian women, Leidy’s and Rocio’s joining the Congregation.. The Canadian group was surprised that such young women aged of 22 and 25 would choose this way of life and be happy with their choice. The international aspect of the Congregation also amazed them.
Back in Canada, we understand that such an experience is so rich that only time will help to value its impact. The dynamic international dimension, the seek for a dedicated and happy life will always be in our mind. A real opening door for the future of our young women here, an invitation to follow their vocational seek with the heart wide-opened to the Spirit.
« Vamos, juntas, a florecer la vida, como Hijas de la Sabiduría! »
Let’s go on, and not be afraid to flourish life in international collaboration with other young people. A sincere thank you Daughters of Wisdom from PEBA!
