DAUGHTERS OF WISDOM - MARIE-LOUISE DELEGATION, PERU
Sisters María Asunción Zevallos and Elvira Muñoz María Luisa Delegation, Peru.
On May 13, 2017, feast of Our Lady of Fatima, the Center for Human Development and Psycho-Social Rehabilitation, “AMARSE” “LOVE ONE ANOTHER - Anna Maria Cuoghi Losi - Mother Emma” was inaugurated. Two Daughters of Wisdom of Peru, Sr. María Asunción Zevallos and Sr. Elvira Muñoz, were invited to the celebration.
A bit of history
The therapeutic community AMARSE (Love One Another) welcomes women for detoxification of addictions. This center is situated at Ventanilla-Callao, Peru, in the same place where our Sister, Sr. Emma Maria DW, once welcomed men to free them from the use of addictive substances. Later, the Brothers of Charity took charge of The School of Life. They reunited the stages and the therapeutic communities, thus freeing the premises of Ventanilla.
Then a group of professionals, formed by Sr. Emma herself, realized our Sister’s dream: the formation of a community for women who knock on the doors of the School of Life asking to be admitted in order to heal their addiction.
Today, with the collaboration of the State’s mental health agencies and the School of Life Council, a community was born including some thirty women who work in the rescuing and healing process.
We, the Daughters of Wisdom, lived a very touching experience. In a tangible way, we understood how deeply these professionals appreciated Sr. Emma Maria. We remembered her life and witnessed what she experienced as a Daughter of Wisdom: a woman who put all her love and trust in God alone and passionately served human beings wounded by drugs.
Today, the Daughters of Wisdom may say: what was sown is still bearing fruit.
Our dreams for the good of the others are realized. The Congregation received praise on account of one member. We acknowledge the legacy left by Sr. Emma, inspired by St. Louis Marie de Montfort and Blessed Marie Louise. Sister Emma embodied the charism and made life flourish in the existential deserts of many human beings. We also recognize how much the professionals have claimed ownership of her spirit, putting their lives, like her, at the service of women who need to be taken into account, loved and rehabilitated for society.
We hope that this Center “LOVE ONE ANOTHER” become that community where women, wounded by diverse circumstances in life, recover their dignity and get back on their feet. Under the happy and loving gaze of Sr. Emma, may they experience the love of Christ Wisdom who heals and saves from all diseases.
